Snack Attack!

I was talking with friends about the weird spontaneous snacks we favor in moments when there’s just enough time to snatch and grab. You know — the snack attacks that happen when you’re standing in the kitchen with the fridge open (a fingerful of peanut butter, a drink from the OJ carton and voila!)

Here’s a sampling of some tried and true rando-snacks from myself and friends:

  • Using pretzels to scoop cream cheese straight from the container
  • A single slice of lunchmeat and a single slice of cheese rolled together in a tube
  • Margarine spread on a tortilla
  • Cheese dipped in a salsa or tomato jar
  • A spoonful of peanut butter downed with a handful of chocolate chips (doubles as an impromptu dessert)
  • Lone pepperoni slices (bet you can’t eat just one!)
  • A forkful of basically anything left over in the fridge
  • Crackers dunked in a jar of relish

Gross. I know. These are the embarrassingly-crude snacks. So I’ve pulled together a list of some tasty snack recipes that require just a TINY bit of prep work but are definitely worth the effort. Plus, you can actually avoid embarrassment if someone witnesses you eating them:

I hate to admit it but – I have done all the above spontaneous snacking listed above (except the cracker in the relish jar). They all sound great to me.
